Kennedy joined the United States Navy in 1941 as an intelligence
officer. kennedy transferred to the South Pacific two years later
where his boat was hit by a japanese destroyer. Two of his men
were killed and 6 crew members including Kennedy held on to
the remaining parts of the boat. they struggled for 5 hours until they
managed to get to an island 5 miles from where they were at.
kennedy suffered a bad back injury causing him to go back to the
United States. In 1960, Kennedy entered the race to become the Democratic
Party for the presidential candidate. His election was controversial because
no Roman Catholic has ever been president. If elected at 43 he would be the
second youngest president ever. At his inaugural address on 20th January,
1961, Kennedy challenged the people of the United States with the statement:
"Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what you can do for your
country." Kennedy also wanted the young people of the country to help the
undeveloped world.
On November 22nd, 1963, President Kennedy was assassinated .
